Jokowi: People’s Markets Can Open as Long as the Implementation of Strict Health Protocols
President Joko Widodo has allowed the people’s market to remain open during the implementation of level 4 community activity restrictions (PPKM) which will take place from 26 July to 2 August 2021.
However, Jokowi reminded people’s markets to strictly adhere to health protocols.

“People’s markets that sell daily basic necessities are allowed to open as usual with strict health protocols,” said Jokowi, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat Youtube channel, Sunday (25/7/2021). Politik Indonesia
Jokowi also said that people’s markets that sell other than basic daily needs can be opened with a limited capacity.
In addition, the people’s market can only operate until 15:00 local time.
“People’s markets that sell other than basic daily needs can be opened with a maximum capacity of 50 percent until 15:00, where further arrangements are made by the regional government,” he said. Dunia Politik dan Ekonomi
In addition, Jokowi claims that the control of Covid-19 in the country has improved.
Nevertheless, he reminded the public to remain vigilant in anticipating the spread of the Covid-19 variant.
“We must remain cautious in responding to this improvement trend, but we must always be vigilant against highly contagious variants,” he added.
Previously, Jokowi decided PPKM Level 4 to be continued on Sunday night.
The PPKM Level 4 has been in effect for five days, namely 21-25 July 2021.
The policy was implemented in regencies/cities on the island and Bali which recorded assessment scores at level 4 and 3.
Level 4 means that each province has recorded more than 150/100,000 population of Covid-19 cases per week.

Meanwhile, level 3 means areas that have recorded 50-150/100,000 population of corona virus cases per week.
Then, patient care in hospitals reaches 10-30/100,000 population per week, and cases of death range from 2-5/100,000 population per week.
